Vintage Rustic Christmas in our Family Room

So Christmas is blooming all over our home and on my instagram.. Every season I wrack my brain to come up with a new decor scheme... this year I went with natural woods and burlap mixed with dashes of galvanized metal, silver and white... I just absolutely love decorating for the holidays, and its been extra fun this year with the kids appreciating it more...Check out how it all turned out by clicking 'read more'...

So in order to get our home holiday ready we had to do some simple furniture placement changes.. We moved the brown ottoman from our living room back into the family room.. Therefore we needed to find a new spot for our painted white vintage trunk.. so we moved it in between the 2 chairs...Then in order to have just enough space for the christmas tree we had to move the couch back 2ft, now our tree has the perfect spot in the corner of the family room in front of our 2 storey windows.. all the little switches help freshen up the room and completely open up the room and make it seem bigger..
For our tree this year it was all about filling it with some great fillers.. like these silver ball and flocked shimmery leaf branches.. the branches helped transform our ancient basic tree into something special! Next came the ornaments.. I actually took a less is more approach this year.. you should see how many EXTRA ornaments I have left over! :( ah well .. this year I wanted a new look.. So we went with trimming the tree with the same burlap trim that I used last year for the stair trimmings.. I then added lots of white accents.. including these cute mini rocking horses that I got from Joss and Main last year.. I used some ornaments that I made last year like these JOY ornaments and the mini frame ornaments. The new additions include these the tree filler branches and these galvanized tin looking glass ball ornaments as seen below.. I also found these detailed wooden angel wings.. as soon as I saw them I just knew I had to have them. So I purchased '4' representing our family.
I also ordered this fabulous metal script 'Merry' ornament online at Magnolia Market.. I am such a huge fan of 'Fixer Upper' so I was beyond excited to get it!! It actually started the galvanized metal tree theme..
The faux tree is planted in a large antique galvanized tub.. with a off-white burlap wrap covering around tree legs... for a tree skirt I used a ruffled burlap and natural muslin one from last year
The Mantel this year a mix of woods, a bit darker than I normally gravitate to but I love it... I changed up the mirror by switching out one from my hubby's office to lend to the more rustic vibe.. then added a leaned vintage sled and wooden candle sticks.. I lined the edge with faux branches and a string of silver beads for a touch of glimmer.

Our media unit has lots of display spots.. so to keep up with the vintage rustic look I leaned a vintage dutch crate and placed a wooden wreath inside it.. and mixed in a shimmery star and wooden NOEL letters.. with a simple wooden SNOW sign hanging vertical on the right..
I added some smaller faux christmas trees to a wooden herb box.
Mini pine cones act as the perfect vase filler paired with a classic pillar candle..
I kept the pillows simple on our slip covered white sectional.. for a splash of Holiday I paired this shimmery star pillow with this cute Believe pillow, that stencilled the believe onto silver polka dotted burlap fabric last year.
For our Coffee table vignette.. I used the matching wicker tray from the inside of our wicker toy chest as the base..  Then stacked various Pottery Barn design books, with white and silver wooden snowflake ornaments on top.
So here is where our painted trunk coffee table went.. It makes a great side table too..
I leaned a vintage window frame with some deer wooden plank art I made a while back.. I placed our boxwood topiary plants with a wooden cloche filled with a mini boxwood wreath and wooden star.
Hope you enjoyed our family room tour.. sorry if it was a little long.. there was just so much eye candy to capture ;) Stay tuned for more of our Holiday Room tours..
