Well I am super excited to share our laundry room with you.. I have be waiting for this day for over 3 years.. a little over 3 years ago we bought this house. it was nice but very plain and builder basic looking .. but I had a vision for it.. and well my vision costs money .. so this year it was the laundry rooms turn to finally get the makeover it deserved..Let me walk you though how our laundry room came to be..
When we first moved in the Laundry room was not so cute.. dark paint, old white washer and dryer- PLAIN.. the positive is that it came with 2 white wall cabinets :).. first thing was first.. we changed out the old washer and dryer for our navy blue LG washer and dryer from our previous home. (my hubby's bold pick that I love!) I will always give credit when credit is due. ;) so on to the rest, then came a simple wall paint change and wow it made the world of difference,.. it's a pretty dark room to begin with, with minimal natural light so by wrapping the room in Cloud white paint from benjamin moore it really brighten things up and added to my clean, nautical look I was trying to create. Then I made a simple laundry basin fabric skirt and attached it by hanging it in front of the sink with a tension rod from the washer and dryer.. it did the trick to hide that ugly builder laundry basin base.. yuck!! over the last year we didn't even use the sink as it was in pretty nasty condition, we just used it to store paint cans and trays etc.
The new look was to be more streamlined and clean so we added a new cabinet base, a sink, a counter top, backsplash and new lighting.. See full source list below.
The cabinet was a great buy, it was a stock item from Rona.. the only prob is there wasn't white in that style available so I had to paint it.. they had a white but with a drawer and that wouldn't have worked with our sink depth so I had to get creative and paint it.. so many coats later its gorgeous and I couldn't be happier with it all..
1 coat of Bulls eye primer and 2 coats of BM cloud white and ta da a new white cabinet!!
We had the white subway tiles hanging around from our master ensuite bathroom reno at our previous home, then with our kitchen reno last January we had a fairly new single deep basin sink . We replaced the drop in single basin sink with a gorgeous fluted apron farmhouse sink in the kitchen.. but since I still loved the sink and it was in good condition we decided to keep it and use for future laundry makeover.. its great cause it kind of gives the farmhouse look without the cost.. so right there we didn't have to spend dime.. now of course, we did spend on the counter, faucet, cabinet and light... love the light! but more on that in a minute ;) For counters we went with laminate in Carrara Bianco with a thicker square edge for a clean modern look.. it comes in a matte etched finish that actually looks a lot like carrara marble, until you touch it but its a laundry room so I am more than ok with that. Unfortunately we still had to have the counter top piece custom made to fit the depth of washer and dryer 32" (most counters are 26") and custom meant more money :( so that made the counter top cost approx $400 for counters. the light was a wayfair.ca find at $120, the faucet was a fabulous price at $110 ( now I did need to buy deck plate separate for $28 and soap pump .. all because our previous kitchen faucet had 4 holes and we are re-using here! ;)
We painted a full wall in chalkboard paint a while back.. Its such a great statement piece! You can see our full Laundry Chalkboard wall Makeover HERE
In the past year we added these mudroom wall storage hooks to our laundry wall.. you can see our full Wall Hook Makeover HERE
vintage touches deck the tops of our white wall cabinets..
This drying rack is my lifesaver.. this was a cool find at Joss and Main last year.
I love this light!! I searched and searched for a light that would fit the style of our laundry room.. in the end this was the winner! It's a 14" wide pendant in this fabulous seafoam color. It's the perfect mix of vintage and modern.
Thanks for looking today! Hope this inspires you to make little changes over time for a big change in the end.

Looks great! Having a laundry closet makes it hard to redo much. But I really want to pot a cabinet over my washer and dryer. Great work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam! You should definitely add a cabinet when you can for sure .. you will love all the extra storage it gives you!! :)
