Basement Family Room Reveal

So our Basement is DONE!! Yay.. more living space.. and the best part is now we have a carpeted play area for our daughter.. If you have been following you know we chose a cozy Grey carpet, a grey  ledge stone for our fireplace and Benjamin Moore Grey Owl paint for the walls.. Wow I guess there are fifty shades of Grey! ;) The decor theme is more relaxed with coastal touches to flow with our backyard pool view.. We kept our basement slightly different than our upstairs with more grey and industrial accents .. See the FULL reveal below..

We stoned the fireplace with Sierra Grey ledge stone. And flanked the fireplace with Bookcases..
You can see more on our Ikea Billy Bookcase transformation HERE
For a cohesive look we used these matte black nautical inspired outdoor flush mount lights throughout our basement.
We got this new Cabinet for somewhere in our basement.. It landed here behind our sofa, its a great depth, so it lines up perfectly with our pillars to create a natural walk way..
We backed the other side of our sofa with this this sideboard from Ikea..
More on this transformation soon..
I chose to lighten up our charcoal grey sectional with some soft grey coastal themed pillows.
All the pillow covers are from great Etsy shops.. who doesn't love ETSY!! I found a coral patterned  pillow cover, a linen-like thick grey and white canopy striped pillow cover and this adorable seahorse patterned lumbar pillow cover
I couldn't be happier with our completed stairs and railings.. I love the thick newell post and the painted white railings and treads which all lend to the coastal theme.
Hung on the wall by the window is a set of 4 sectional antique prints of New York street map from Etsy in black Ikea frames.
I made some wooden signs by stencilling names of nearby Lakes on wooden Cedar Planks.
The mirror is our 8 year old Ikea Mongstad Mirror.. painted white. We were actually debating getting rid of it but then thought why not paint it to make it flow with basement and it totally worked.
And lastly I just had to include our daughters Pottery Barn Kids chair, it matches our basement decor perfectly.  :)

  2. Love it! Great colours and I really like all the texture, especially that stunning ledge stone. This Ontario girl loves the Muskoka references in the signs too. I have a similar Wasaga sign almost finished and I may need to add a few more now lol. I'm sure you will enjoy spending time in your new space.
