Black and White Guest Bedroom Reveal

Today I am sharing our other guest bedroom.. it was a blank canvas when we moved in with pale creamy walls. We have since changed out the old carpeting and builder light.. and added some much needed wall art, decor and window shades. See how I used black decor and off set it with calming whites and neutrals to keep it soft. See below for more details...

Changing a Closet into a Reading Nook

When we purchased our new build we decided to do something a little unconventional. We deleted the linen closet from the upper hall from the plans. We figured we had lots of closet space in bathrooms and upper floor laundry room and we didn't want closet doors being the first thing you see from the main level when you look up /walk up. The builder refused to fully delete framing.. which we found kind of odd since it was more work for them to frame.  In the end it turned out to be a blessing that we kept the closet framing (The plan was to knock it down once we took possession) but by keeping it, it could now be easily turned back into a closet for resale purposes (which turned out to be earlier than expected due to a re-location). Below are some pic's of our Settee Reading nook. The large beveled mirror on mirror from Urban Barn also helped bounce natural light into our hall as it had no windows.
