Summer changes to our Master bedroom

With summer upon us, I felt it was time to change up our bedroom colour scheme a little bit.. shall we say lighter and brighter... So I went with mellow yellow theme. First of all let me say those who follow me know I'm not big on colour, I'm a very neutral girl at heart. But this summer I thought I'd brighten things up and I have to tell you I'm actually loving it! Check out our bedroom below..

Even though it's summer  I still wanted our bed to be comfy and full of pillows.. To keep things light and airy I replaced our heavy duvet with a thin cotton coverlet with a mix of soft yellow and grey patterned cotton throw pillows. You can really see how some throw pillows and white euros really jazz up a plain bed. To sleep we have our king sized pillows and Euro sized pillows. Our big white euro pillows not only make the bed but they are great for extra support when curling up to a good summer read..
Who doesn't love a great comfy euro pillow and what a better breathable light material for summer than in a white linen, like this beauty that I found online from Parachute Home

Most of these pillows I made myself with fabric I have picked up over the years, I love adding different buttons for a unique customized look

At the end of our bed I added this light weight white sheer vintage lace throw for a little touch of vintage glam.

Another way to add to the look of summer is through fresh flowers.. I don't always have fresh flowers in our bedroom, but for summer its great cause they are readily available in our yard for FREE! With some nap-time flower picking.. I now have a beautiful, simple bouquet of daisies in a yellow pitcher.
I don't want this to feel like this is a tissue ad, I promise you its not. I just like to coordinate my tissue boxes with my decor.. I'm a loser I know!  This one is by Puffs.. I just love Puffs for their wide selection of colours and box designs. Under our yellow tissue box is my latest summer read 'Ramshackle Glam' by Jordan Reid. The little tag line on the front says it all.
Of course I continued the yellow theme over to the corner of our bedroom. I added some throw pillows to our chair and a extra pillow to the basket above our Metal bookcase.
On our corner chair I used statement graphic pillows,  I made these pillows a while back and I am finally getting around to using them. I have a THING for pillows and fabrics.. I can never leave the fabric store with out more new material...
So this was a simple addition.. I added a burlap covered book as the base, a vintage hobnail pitcher and some yellow flowers from our garden for a simple summer vignette.
