New Farmhouse Kitchen Sink & Faucet

So here is our latest Kitchen addition ;) a new large single basin sink and a new sink faucet. The white acrylic single basin sink is a great alternative to a apron sink. I would have loved to truly get a real apron sink but it would of 1) cost a lot more for the sink I chose 2)we would have needed new custom made cabinet doors for under the sink.. cha-ching!! SO it was out of the question!! So instead this reasonably priced alternative white single basin sink is fabulous.. I love not having a divider anymore.. I can finally wash Trays and big pots with ease. The oil rubbed faucet is great as it has an old world charm look to it ;) It all definitely lends to the French Country Farmhouse kitchen vibe I was aiming for.
The vintage looking Cross Handles come with Hot and Cold round Ceramic detail in the centre.
I will admit that I was a tad scared to go with a WHITE sink.. You hear tons of horror stories with white sinks, or at least you do when you google them which is what i did!! I know I love white for everything else ..but a sink really??? Well I took the chance and am so happy we did. It turns out its super easy to clean, I feel easier than my old stainless one.. The best part about the sink is it doesn't stain!! You just use a soft sponge and dish soap and it looks brand new again.

Adding a Hook to our Kitchen Island

Today is just a simple little addition to our Kitchen Island we made a while back. I felt we needed a place to house our Oven Mitts and a hook was a perfect space saving solution!! We added the double prong hook on the side of the island closest to our stove for easy access when we need them.
We purchased our particular hook from Lowes. It comes in many different finishes to match any decor. I went with the oil rubbed bronze finish to flow with our Kitchen Cabinetry hardware.

Neutral Powder Bath Reveal

So this little powder bath went under one crazy before and after.. and guess what.. I have no pictures to prove it?? No idea how it happened!!??.. It was one of the first projects we conquered here at our new home.. So I think I was a little overwhelmed to say the least ;) So you will just have to take my word.. The Before had dark grey painted walls on the bottom half with a dated patterned wallpaper on the upper half separated by a hideous wallpaper border!! It appeared very dark with horrible tiny wall wall sconce for lighting.. And since this is the only bathroom on the main floor, I knew we had to update it.. It is still not entirely complete.. But since I've given you tours of our whole main floor thus far I felt it was only fair to let you in our bathroom progress.. We still need new toilet paper and towel hardware, a new faucet, possibly a new vanity with storage ( I bought a vintage dresser, Just not sure if I will use it in this space or not?)

Rustic Christmas decor in our Basement

For our basement I kept with the Neutral Christmas theme but added some subtle touches of red. I  hung a red striped jute webbing garland off a antique Barn door.. Isn't this door amazing??..  This past summer I found a trio of doors with the glass still intact for $75 for all 3!! so I jumped at the deal even though I had no idea where they would go or how my hubby would react.. Thank goodness for free delivery ;) We originally had them outside leaned against our fence for the remainder of summer but we brought them in for winter.. 2 are hiding in storage and 1 is leaning against our walls behind this bench , I like the way it looks so much I may just keep it there!
For some sparkle, I hung a Vintage Glass ornament garland across our chicken wire Frame.
I filled a weathered wooden planter box full of an assortment of smaller metallic ornaments and placed it on our end table.

Behind our couch I placed a small Christmas Vignette using wooden 'Merry Christmas' blocks and two small trees with rustic wooden tree trunks.
I moved the large Burlap body pillow from our Fall Porch display indoors to this bench. I wrapped cream and red ticking stripe fabric around it and then added a bow.. It changed an ordinary pillow into something festive.. And the best part is I'm not locked into any colour scheme..I can change it up whenever I like this way;)

Our Neutral Holiday House Tour

I always like to decorate with Neutrals and Vintage Decor. So for Christmas it was no different.. I incorporated lots of Burlap, Jute and wood throughout our home for a very natural organic feel.. Shall we say French Country Rustic Christmas.. The best part about decorating with neutrals is most of the decor can stay up once the Tree comes down ;) To keep the all the neutrals interesting, I used lots of glittery accents mixed with subtle touches of Red and Metallics. Now our Home feels warm and festive .. ready for the holiday season ahead.

JOY Dollar Store Ornaments with a simple twist.

I was at the Dollar Tree the other day and found these cute Gold JOY glittered ornaments for $1.25 for 5! Our tree is mostly decorated with wood, burlap, jute and white ornaments.. Basically it's more neutral..So to make them flow with our decor, I thought why not just paint them? I painted them in Annie Sloan chalk paint in Old White. See below on how Our Christmas Tree looks now..
