So here it is our subtle Christmas Decor in our adjoining living and dining rooms .. I recently shared our Dining Room Reveal and Living Room Reveal so you could really see the subtle ways I chose to decorate this year. I wanted our home to feel like Christmas but still be neutral and livable. I'm not the type of decorator who has christmas bath towels.. Nothing against it.. I just don't bring Holiday decor into the bathroom or the bedrooms really... I do have a red striped tea towel in my kitchen though ;) We kept a more neutral and natural theme throughout our house.. using burlap, jute and wood whenever possible to flow with our homes decor, with subtle touches of metallic.
Our dining table centrepiece is a Painted Rustic wooden box full of Metallic tree ornaments, an eclectic mix of various Glass Candle holders I already had with Ivory coloured candles. The tapered candles are stamped with script font for a very french look. The pillar candles are my favourite Vanilla ones from Ikea.
Above Our Dining room hutch I changed out our bunny and soup tureen for a glittery wooden reindeer.
I added simple Linen Scrap Fabric bows to the tops of the mirrors using double sided tape ;)
A glittery 'Merry Christmas' signs hangs off the glass knobs of our hutch
I changed the Table runner to a Neutral Natural Linen runner, with a white Grain sack detail
I hung 2 grapevine wreaths from burlap ribbon on the shutters that flank the round arched doorway.
I bought these wreaths originally for Fall as they have a simple burlap and linen rosette flowers.. To make the wreaths a little more festive and flow with the rest of our holiday decor I took some of my left over burlap with silver polka dot fabric from some of my holiday pillow projects, more to come on them.. and cut the burlap into 4 inch strips. I tied a fabric bow and pinned it at the base of the wreath. voila.. Instant Christmas wreath ;)
The green moss balls in the vintage urn look perfect for the season.
Since our living room is connected and the first thing you see when you walk in our front door. I wanted to keep it festive but not over the top. I added a subtle pieces greenery to look like a garland under the TV , with a mix of left over silver wooden balls from last years outdoor planters. Believe it or not the greenery branches aren't real but they look and feel very realistic!! I got them from a local garden centre last year after Christmas... I always find the best deals then!
The large Bolster pillow on our couch was another lucky 'after' Christmas purchase. It's a quirky festive quote.. "Be naughty save Santa the trip" I just couldn't resist. I purchased it from Chapters indigo online last year.
On our coffee table I kept the woven tray but changed up what we had displayed on it. The this gold candelabra was a vintage find almost 10yrs ago, someone made it out of a piece of driftwood. Its almost got a modern feel to it. Because of its colouring I don't normally have it out on display. Yes I know I could always PAINT it.. I paint everything else!!.. But something always stops me.. Anyways I'm so glad I didn't paint it cause the gold goes perfect with my subtle metallic holiday theme. These large silver and white wooden snowflake ornaments lay on the tray for a casual vibe, and the best part is they work great as coasters.. And my daughter can't break them!!
Behind the couch I have a vintage wooden ironing board, with a display of white picture frames.. So on either end of the wooden board I have these little faux trees with real wood stands. I picked them up at a garage sale this summer for 25 cents!
The deer head on the bookcase is part of my everyday decor but it works great for this time of year. Same thing goes for my 'B' Burlap Initial Pillow. It is a pillow I rotate throughout the year.. It represents our last name and since Burlap is part of our Christmas Theme it seemed well suited for this chair.
This year I hung mini Boxwood wreaths on our door panel.. Jute twine ties all three wreathes together with little bows. The musical note art is part of our everyday decor, yet it reminds me of the holiday's for some reason?
